What We Do

Our aim is to preserve the stories that remind us of
who we are and where we come from

Services

Our first step is a meeting or phone call. Here we discuss how KinPix can best be suited to fit the needs of you and your family. At this point you can explain to us what you are looking to have done, and we can asses the scope of work and give you a timeline and estimated cost for the project.

Your Past

Interviewing the gatekeepers of your family’s history is the absolute best way to ensure that the meaningful memories, accurate records and vibrant stories of your family’s past are preserved. In the Your Past package we seek to do just that.

The Process/What We Do

We set up filming days and our team comes in and sets up, films, and audio records you, your parents, grandparents, or more holistically your family elders and story tellers, individually going through your family’s own collection of photo albums, asking them questions to bring out the meaningful stories, family history, and exciting moments that the photographs in the albums remind them of.

Our next step is to then take all the albums and carefully remove the photographs within so that we can scan each photograph to digitize them and bring the album online. Then we edit the raw video footage and audio to create a corresponding video of your family’s story teller(s) discussing your own family history as they pertain to each album. Finally, we attach each video to the now scanned digital photo album.

Given back to you is your photo albums put back into their original state, a hardrive copy of the now digital project, as well as a shareable link to access the project online, from anywhere.

Your Future

We see a-lot of value interviewing young adults, teenagers, and children; doing this creates a lasting window into the lives of their past selves so that later in life they can look back at crystal clear video footage of their early aspirations, apprehensions, mannerisms, and visions for the future.

The Process/What We Do

To do this we set up a time that works for you, and we set up our equipment and film an interview with a specific focus on their lives up to this point and their future. We ask the parents or grandparents to be the interviewer, as they will have personal insight into the best and most fruitful discussion paths. That said, we try to get to know our clients well before we get to filming, therefore we also bring in a list of questions that will help facilitate discussion.

In the ‘Your Future Package’ we are happy to scan, digitize, and organize any photographs you would like, though typically young adults, teenagers, and children grew up in an era where the majority of photographs are already digital. If there are photographs that are not digital and you would like converted, we are happy to provide that service as well.
